Garage doors are workhorses that make our lives easier. They open and close multiple times every single day and it is but normal that they break down from time to time. Not often but, without proper maintenance, your garage door will break.
Repairs are costly but can be prevented. My advice. Never
skip an annual garage door maintenance check and always be on the lookout for
things that are out of the ordinary like strange noises and other stuff.
Here are tell-tale signs that your garage door is broken.
Garage Door Closes Too Fast or Falls to the Ground
This could be caused by loose springs, broken cables, or
damaged tracks. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed quickly or
it could lead to an accident.
Garage Door Opens So Slowly
Several factors could lead to this problem. There could be a
broken spring, the opener might need some lubrication or the garage door may
not be properly balanced.
Garage Door is Heavy
You may need to have the garage door balanced and the
tensioner reset on the springs, or the springs themselves may need to be
replaced.
Garage Door Shakes and Wobbles When It Opens or Closes
This is a serious problem that should be checked
immediately. It could either be the tracks, belt, or the rollers that are
broken.
Garage Door Opens Crookedly
This is caused by a broken extension spring causing one side
of the door to get pulled more quickly than the other side.
Scraping, Squeaking, and Other Loud Noises When Opening and Closing the Garage Door
This could be caused by a broken spring, worn out rollers,
broken tracks, or the garage door may be scraping against your house.
Most garage door problems do not need expensive repairs
provided that they are addressed immediately. If you notice anything out of the
ordinary, call a garage door technician as soon as possible and have the garage
door checked.
